PEAK’S PEOPLE, PLACES AND EVENTS

Since opening the store I’m becoming more aware of the finer details.

I’ve always had to pay attention to the ‘details’ in any job I’ve had.

But it hits differently now.

You are very important to me. The experience you have at the store or even on a picnic with Peak Provisions products matters very much.

My deep love of charcuterie and sharing this with you is part of who we are as a business.

So choosing a board to provide you with this dining experience was a choice I took seriously. And I had to work with someone who is from our community.

Meet Jon Dobie - his Fine Wood Working company, Bluebird Woodwork is just getting started. But with 5+ years under his belt in this industry… he is far from a rookie.

Bluebird Woodwork is currently his ‘side hustle’ but his number of clients and projects is growing quickly.

He is a creative individual just like his wife, Christina Lehn who I wrote about last week.

He has lived between Whistler, Vancouver and now Squamish for nearly 10 years.

Born in Ontario and now has spent the majority of his adult life here in the Sea to Sky corridor. He knew this was going to be his forever home very early after he first arrived.

He and his partner Christina will be welcoming a baby to their lives this summer. Starting this new journey here in Squamish… where they are super excited to continue to grow their family.

5 years ago he began the BCIT Joinery & Cabinetry course (fine woodworking & high-end cabinetry making). And last November he completed his Red Seal Cabinetmaker certification.

He is currently working for Blackpoint Architectural Woodwork based out of Whistler. This woodworking company services some of the most high-end custom residential and commercial builds in the Sea to Sky corridor.

If you want to talk about the finer details… Jon can tell you about it. All of his work focuses on the importance of every detail.

It was kinda serendipitous that I began working with his wife and found out about his new company shortly thereafter. This next chapter of his professional career is just getting started… and I know he’ll be up to big things.

I knew that the charcuterie boards I choose to provide at the store and for the Peak Packs had to be high quality. Built to last and stand out at the same time.

After meeting with Jon I had no doubt his craftsmanship was exactly what I had envisioned for you. Not to mention… he is an all-around great guy who is fantastic to work with.

Check out Bluebird Woodwork on IG. And DM Jon if you are in need of an excellent local woodworker.

PROVISIONS WE LOVE

I love all Asian cuisine. That might seem like a blanket statement but it’s true.

I have weekly cravings for different Asian cultural dishes.

To be more specific, a good dumpling can bring me so much happiness.

That is why it was a no-brainer to bring you the happiness of Dicky’s Dumps.

Not only does the name make you smile (or even laugh out loud) but the taste is incredible.

These lil beauties are handmade, with love, in Vancouver. They are then frozen and shipped to select locations across BC.

Peak Provisions has these tasty dumplings stocked for you in our freezer section.

Pearl Lam and Dickson Li are the founders of this culinary brainchild. Both are children of immigrant families who shared their love of this traditional Chinese dish.

As a married couple and now business partners, they celebrate and share with us their Asian heritage.

These are legit restaurant-quality dumplings and I know people who’ve told me they selfishly took down a whole bag to themselves. I don’t judge… these things are so damn good.

So come by and grab some Dicky’s dumps. While you’re here, pick up some Salt Spring Island Chili Oil to dip them in (they pair so well together).

And I’ve recently enjoyed these two items with some can’s of Birch Block Rosé… which you can also get from our counters.

What are you waiting for? I just planned your next meal for ya.

AT THE BAR

The Peak Provision Food Truck will be pullin up to an event near you very soon.

I figured I wasn’t already busy enough so I’d go ahead and toss some more on my plate. I joke… I’m kidding.

(image on the left is just a rendering - the real images will be shared soon)

The Food Truck will provide you with all our fan favourites. Coming soon to various events and locations throughout our beloved community.

The store will always be a hub for community and a place to gather. But what better way is there to show up for everyone than to actually “pull up” and provide our tasty goods?

You can expect to enjoy our Wagyu hot dogs, sandwiches, and salads. There will most likely be new dishes and snacks as well.

I have been working to get the truck prepped and ready to serve up Peak’s tasty dishes.

It’s currently being serviced and soon to be branded and wrapped. In the meantime, we are figuring out the best debut location for this restaurant on wheels.

I am really excited to bring this new addition of Peak Provisions to you and share it with people who might not know us yet.

Stay tuned for more updates here, via email and on IG as well.

In the meantime, don’t be a stranger.

Come in and hang out with us at the bar soon.

We’ll be here waiting for you.
