PEAK’S PEOPLE, PLACES AND EVENTS

Every day I come to work I’m learning.

Some of the biggest lessons while opening this store have come in the form of letting go.

I have no control over A LOT of things… I try to. But I’m learning to let that go as well.

The one thing I was not letting go of was my vision for the Peak Provisions Brand. How I show up for you. For everyone who comes through our doors.

Our look… the feel. The visual connotations relating to the store.

I am not an artist. But I respect and love the creative process. And I was damn sure I needed to work with someone locally who loves this community as much as us.

I needed to work with someone who possesses the talent and natural abilities that allow them to create these visual associations… meet Christina Lehn.

She is rare bread indeed… born here in BC. Not a transplant. But actually, someone who was raised on the North Shore of Vancouver.

This is literally her backyard.

For nearly a decade now she has been a Graphic Designer and Brand Strategist.

Currently working as a Senior Graphic Designer at Epic Branding & Design as well as a freelancer.

Walnut Design Co. is Christina’s freelance company. She has been providing her clients with artwork and brand expertise for over 7 years now.

Her love of illustration began at a very young age and she has been honing her craft ever since.

It’s no wonder she is gaining respect and much-deserved attention. Christina’s skills and natural ability are easily recognized.

From her digital illustrations to her remarkable hand-drawn sketches. You can see this is her passion.

For me, I wanted to add that element of creativity and uniqueness to Peak Provision's Brand. After meeting with Christina I immediately knew she would knock this out of the park. And she is really fun to work with as well.

Not only is she a super-talented graphic designer and brand strategist… her artwork is sublime. And it’s no secret that she loves the West Coast.

Inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and the wildlife here in the PNW.

Check out her Instagram and DM her if you’d like to work with her:

I cannot say enough great things about her as a person or her incredible talent as an artist.

Tell her Martha sent you… I’m pretty sure she still likes me ;) I’m really fun to work with too.

PROVISIONS WE LOVE

I kinda eluded to it last week… one of my favourite producers Peak Provisions brings to you is Oyama Sausage Co. I truly love all their charcuterie and other products.

These guys deserve their very own full write-up.

Today, Oyama provides over 400 different products. Changing seasonally and always improving. They continuously develop new, fresh and exciting things for us to eat.

Founded over 30 years ago in beautiful Oyama BC (hence the name). But in 2001 they relocated to their current iconic Granville Island location.

This place is a staple on GI and so many chefs from across the globe sing the praises of Oyama (for good reason too).

Oyama is deeply rooted in the discipline and tradition of the charcuterie trade. Spanning a five-generation family-based business and craft. This old-school approach and discipline have been producing some of the finest charcuterie, terrines and pates in all of Canada.

I work with Gerome (their General Manager) and he is amazing. Old school, and amazing.

Old school as in… they still have handwritten receipts. The deliveries “come when they come”. I’m told “you get what you get and you don’t get upset.” I love this. And I don’t get upset.

We will request anything you don’t currently see at the store and would like to have brought in. I can’t guarantee if it’s gonna come or even the day it will arrive (*refer back to “ya get what you get…”)

But I can tell you, whatever we do get from Oyama is always top in its class. Follow them on IG

AT THE BAR

Peak Provisions Patio lanterns are about to light up your life.

I’m VERY excited to announce that we will have a full-service patio getting built next week. Fingers crossed it will be ready for next weekend but this is still TBC.

It is going to be a covered patio, offering all-year-round service with heaters. There will be a bar (similar to the one inside) and it will be licensed. You can enjoy all the wine, cocktails and beverages you desire.

Once again, in the eleventh hour, our friends at Blue Water Concepts are helping us execute this build.

I’m super pumped that it got pushed through at the district. It will genuinely make summer that much more enjoyable for you to come here and hang out during those hotter months.

Our new menu will also be coming soon and will have all the summertime items you’ll want to enjoy outdoors on a patio.

We’ve got some amazing salads and other seasonal fare so stay tuned for that.

I will update you more on the timing of the patio via IG next week.

In the meantime, don’t be a stranger.

Come in and hang out with us at the bar soon.

We’ll be here waiting for you.
